We executed a critical on-site inspection and diagnostic analysis of a high-speed Lufkin NF23 19D gearbox operating within the power generation sector. With a massive power rating of 34,600 kW and input speeds exceeding 5,500 rpm, this parallel shaft unit is a vital component of the energy infrastructure.
Our field service specialists conducted a forensic examination, identifying a severely damaged sealing labyrinth and critical wear on both the input pinion and output shaft bearings. The analysis revealed that internal debris from the bearing failure had contaminated the housing, necessitating a comprehensive flushing of the lubrication system. This project underlines our ability to perform precise diagnostics on high-performance turbo gearboxes, ensuring that the scope of repair is accurately defined to minimize downtime and prevent catastrophic failure.
