Vibration Analysis and Pinion Modification of Eisenbeiss TGU 825

Advanced modal analysis and precision gear profile modification to eliminate vibrations in a 2.1 MW power generation gearbox.

We conducted a specialized on-site diagnostic and vibration analysis of an Eisenbeiss TGU 825 gearbox used in power generation. With a rated power of 2,100 kW (peaking at 2,530 kW), this parallel shaft unit is a critical asset where mechanical stability is paramount for energy output.

Following a sophisticated modal analysis, our engineers identified that the root cause of excessive vibrations and problematic operation was an improper gear tooth profile on the pinion. Rather than a standard replacement, Wikov performed a precision modification of the pinion profile to harmonize the gear mesh and eliminate the harmful frequencies. Additionally, we replaced the damaged bearings to restore the unit to peak condition. This engineering-led intervention significantly reduced vibration levels, ensuring reliable, long-term operation and protecting the generator from further mechanical stress.
