Upgrade and surface repair of BHS Cincinnati RTP 40 gearbox

Elimination of corrosion and pitting through precision gear grinding and polishing.

We executed a specialized intervention on a BHS Cincinnati RTP 40 gearbox operating within the power generation sector. With a rated power of 6,000 kW and a 2:1 reduction ratio, this parallel shaft unit is critical for maintaining consistent energy output.

Upon disassembly and detailed inspection, we identified significant contamination resulting from operational wear, oil impurities, and moisture-induced corrosion. The gear tooth contact surfaces showed signs of pitting and debris damage. To restore optimal performance without full component replacement, our team performed precision grinding and polishing of the gear teeth. This targeted upgrade eliminated surface imperfections, ensuring smooth torque transmission and significantly extending the gearbox's service life.
